How Do You Even Read by Email?

showing clarifiers and reversals

There are a lot of hurdles to jump when it comes to tarot reading. First there’s the fact that it involves tarot cards and if you’ve not grown up around them or had a reading with them before they can be kinda freaky. It’s not devil worship, it’s not hokum, it’s weird, sure, but they’re just a tool that Kore and I use to help us tune into the forces we need to so that we can advise you better about what’s going on with your life now or what will be coming up for you in the days, weeks or months ahead.

So, okay, you’ve got over that part but then you’re expected to believe that we can do all this for you without you even being here. It may be hard to believe but I get it. I do. I spent several years trying and testing whether or not I really could tune into people and see what they needed to be told without them sitting across from me sharing energy with me and with the cards.

I’ve always been one to experiment and prove. I tested myself sending and receiving with Xener Cards when I was still in high school, and I did the same when it came to reading cards; joining groups called “Tarot Trade” where I could practice reading for other readers in the same boat, and in the end, just putting myself out there and reading for people in other areas. It wasn’t until I read for a gentlemen late one evening and was praised by him and then found out he was in Ireland that I really felt comfortable saying that I was capable of reading online. Since then it’s been tried, tested and proven over and over again.

Still, you may be asking yourself, what happens when you sign up for this reading. For one, I’m not going to ply you for information. You click on the link in the shopping cart and you tell me what you want me to know. The only thing I ask you to share is this your name, gender preference and starsign or date of birth. This is for two reasons, one so we can address you appropriately and a bit more personably than “dear sir or madam or persons neutral”, and two it does help us tune, by which I mean it’s something we can hold on to and repeat to ourselves as we shuffle the cards and prepare for your reading.

In the run-downs of the type of readings we offer it does say that we’d like an “area of focus” this can be as brief or wordy as you’d like. Some people just write “job” or “love life” and that’s fine, others give us a run-down of their last week and ask for a projection forward both of these are fine and entirely up to you. You can even leave that part out all together and then the reading will focus on whatever the universe/cards feel is the most pertinent to your needs and we’ll go from there.

The next stage is the bit you don’t see. Kore and I both shuffle and deal very differently. She deals from the top down whereas I run my hand along the spread out deck and pull out which cards feel “hot” to me and read from there. We both read reversals (which I’ll talk more about in a different post). We both draw clarifying cards here and there but I will tend to draw clarifiers for court cards any time I draw them though I don’t count those against the number of cards drawn. If you ask for a three card reading and I draw the King of Swords, then the Two of Cups to help me sort out if the King is being a person on situation. I will still draw another two cards not just one. The clarifier is on me, not you.

After the cards are drawn comes the interpreting and note-taking and then the wheedling everything down so that it can be shared with you in a way that makes sense and isn’t just “King–oooh, annoying person, work, trouble, frustration, grr, argh!” along with picture taking and then email compiling and sending. Which is hopefully then met with understanding and appreciation.

Neither of us likes ending things on a sour note, if the outcome of the reading seems overly stressful, frustrating or nasty we’ll pull a few more cards so that we can help get things to a more positive spot for you. Nobody wants to end on a downer. We want you to be happy, or have tools at your disposal to get you to that better place. The reading is about you and what you need, not about us and what we want to share.

Always, always if something doesn’t quite make sense to you in your reading get back with us and we’ll help you with it. Occasionally we’re not as clear as we think we are.

Closing

You may have noticed there was no Guess What? Wednesday today. That’s because I was busy finishing transferring our jewelry items to Etsy and putting our tea products on sale.

We regret to announce that we’re closing this current incarnation. We’ve been unable to keep up with going to market and none of the partners have enough equity to keep plugging along with the business in the current climate. It’s our hope that we can get our existing products off the shelves at this time. I know I will continue to offer tarot services as I have done previously by myself after the door closes on our Herbal Tea and Jewelry line.

Our teas are being sold still through our shopping cart here at 25% off given the Etsy fee for multiple products would mean we’d have to actually raise the price which we don’t want to do. Jewelry is 25% off on Etsy if you use the coupon code: CLOSEOUT. I’ll be putting some of our jewelry supplies up on Etsy over the next week or so for those of you who are fellow jewelry makers who might make use of those supplies.

We thank you for your support over the past year.

P.S. tarot readings are still 10% off through the end of the year. Get your 2012 predictions!

Congratulations

To all. We’re back online! For real this time!
Finally, right?

So, take advantage of our 10% off readings before they run out at the end of the year. We’re happy to offer you a little guidance for what 2012 will bring for you!

Congratulations to Merna who won our Guess What? We’re Back quiz. Thankfully the connection was “with it” enough that I could sort all that out via Facebook. I’ll be catching up on the one-cards this afternoon once I’m done with some transatlantic catch-up for the holidays.

Keep those you love close-by and make sure they know how much you appreciate them. Enjoy the rest of the holiday season! Until next time!

Sample Three Card Spreads

There are several ways that our three card spread can be done. So, here Kore and I are going to showcase some sample interpretations of the different spreads so that our wonderful clients can have a better understanding of what goes on with a reading. For these sample readings we used the wonderful Shadowscapes tarot and we used the same three cards each time to show the versatility of interpretation.

General Reading
Cards drawn: Ace of Pentacles, Three of Swords, Two of Pentacles

Interpretation by Catriona:
You’re at the beginning of a new start financially, most likely a change in job or a switch up of responsibilities at your current job, given the two of pentacles chasing the reading. The Three indicates some conflict and sorrow going on there. It seems as though in order to get this change you’ve done something you’re not too happy about having done, but at the same time it’s going to be beneficial for you so you’re trying to move past it. This is more of an interpersonal conflict, so it feels more as though you’ve gone after the same job as someone you like and cut them off from their chance to advance. This is going to work out for you in the long run and I don’t feel any tension from the other person just be polite and remorseful, and try not to complain about additional responsibilities in front of them and you should be fine.

Romantic Reading
Cards Drawn: Ace of Pentacles, Three of Swords, Two of Pentacles.

Interpretation by Kore:
Ace of Pentacles means that it’s a grounded relationship, you have a good understanding of each others strengths and weaknesses so that you can form a strong bond. However, Three of Swords would mean that one person is feeling betrayed or has been betrayed by the other. The Two of Pentacles would indicate that it’s not an insurmountable betrayal but it will definitely have to be worked on. There’s a need to be more open with each other as far as emotions go which has not previously been a focus, this changeover will enable the balance you previously had to be much stronger as you share with each other on different levels and allow the relationship to evolve.

Past, Present, Future
Cards Drawn: Ace of Pentacles, Three of Swords, Two of Pentacles.

Tag Team Interpretation:

Past: Ace of Pentacles
Your childhood was very grounded–you were taught a lot of practical and useful things, however, there likely wasn’t as much room to express yourself as others had or much give with the rules system that your elders imposed. You have a lot of helpful knowledge about the way the world works. [Cat]
It was a very stable environment with little to no stressful events but coming out of it you have less experience than your peers with regards to social conventions. Some people may have seen your childhood as being too rigid it was incredibly rich in encouragement and allowed you a very pragmatic view of the rest of the world. [Kore]

Present: Three of Swords
You’re feeling troubled at the moment which is causing you to do a lot of pretty negative reflecting and picking at yourself about your problems. It’d be easy for me to say “buck up” but this is something you have to work through. You’ve lost sight of the way because you’ve been unable to find the right answer, some times they’re not easy things to find and you have to trust your gut rather than reason. [Cat]
You’re not doing well right now. This card almost always deals with feelings of emotional turmoil. Something has recently happened to cause great suffering, especially as far as mental and emotional well being go. [Kore]

Future: Two of Pentacles
You will be able to regain some of your equilibrium by making some practical changes in your environment. You have to flip some of your thinking. Once you learn to be a little more flexible and have some fun things will become a lot easier. You some times get caught up too much in being practical when fun is fun and a great stress reliever and doesn’t always have to break the bank. [Cat]
Balancing money is going to be key in this next step forward. It is not out of your reach but it is something you will have to be aware of. Keeping tighter strings on your purse may be taxing but it is necessary because other situations in the future are not quite as stable as the money you have coming in. [Kore]

Blog Again & Updates

About

This blog is written by the owners of The Silver Path: Casper, Kasandora, Kore & Catriona.

You will find details about things going on with our business: specials, new products and contests. We’ll also talk about things which are of interest to us and hopefully of interest to you. We’ll explain the reasons that we made jewelry in the manner we did, the purpose behind the semi-precious stones that were selected, how Casper makes candles, how we came up with tea blends, what different semi-precious stones are, about different tarot decks that Cat and Kore use. We love to write about the paranormal & supernatural. We will tell ghost stories from time to time.

If there’s a topic you’re interested in that you’d like to see us research and cover let us know.
